Chapter 32 of 32 · Setup
Connections and App Setup
Connections is where a business links the outside accounts Winston works with: Stripe for payments, and Google for your local listing, ads, site traffic and Gmail. App Setup is a checklist of the common tools a new computer needs, each downloaded straight from its maker.
How it works
What you can do here
- Connect Stripe and Google accounts for this business
- See which accounts are connected and which aren't
- Tick off common apps (Chrome, Zoom, Slack, Microsoft 365, 1Password, QuickBooks and more) as you install them
1. Connecting accounts
- 1
Open Connections
In the Setup group of a business hub.
- 2
Read what each does
Google Business Profile manages your local listing, hours, posts and review replies. Google Analytics gives site traffic Winston can mention in briefings. Gmail lets outreach and support replies go from your inbox. Google Ads lets ad concepts launch as real campaigns.
- 3
Connect
Press connect and sign in to that service in its own window. You stay in control and can disconnect at any time.
- 4
If a button is greyed out
A message such as "Add Google OAuth credentials in Settings first" means the platform's keys need setting under Integrations on the main hub.
2. Setting up a computer
- 1
Open App Setup
Common tools for a new computer.
- 2
Download each one
Each link goes straight to the maker's own download page.
- 3
Tick it off
Tick each app once it's installed. This is a manual checklist; Winston can't see what's on your computer.
On Windows, Ninite (linked from the home page) installs many common apps in one go.
